XX of Sierra Madre, California, died on (blah blah blah) of (blah blah blah). Born in Boston January 11, 1940, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Sylvester Baker Kelley, Jonathan was educated at Exeter, Princeton, and Harvard Medical School. Trained as an anesthesiologist, he served in the Navy during Vietnam, and then practiced at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California. After retirement in 2002, Jonathan moved to Los Angeles to explore a wealth of non-medical interests: Spanish language and culture, culinary arts, piano, acting, video production and editing, coconut frond weaving, and neon art. For 16 seasons he performed the role of Mr. Cormack in the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts’ annual Christmas play, “Too Many Tamales.” He had the occasional principal role in film and TV productions, as well as being a background performer, most often in the TV show B Positive. Jonathan was devoted to his wife Gloria Laino, a successful Latina actress in the film industry. He was the loving father of Sarah Euverard Kelley, and grandfather of New York-trained artist Winifred Chavira. Jonathan remained close to his first wife, Mary Katherine Kelley, until her death in 2019. His older brother David Baker Kelley passed in 2023. Jonathan leaves his sisters, Sarah Silverson Shepherd of Portland, ME, and Elisabeth Carling Trexler of New York City, as well as the four children of his wife Gloria: Lara Bataineh Humood of Amman, Jordan, Ali Bataineh of Davie, FL, Lawrence Kennedy of San Francisco, and Francis Kennedy, also of San Francisco.
