XX known to all as Dave, was born in Boston on October 14, 1933, and died on (blah blah blah) as a result of (blah blah blah). One of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. David Ogilvy Shepherd, of Scotland, XX grew up in Quincy, MA. He attended Quincy High School, where he excelled in football. During the Korean Conflict, he proudly served in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force. Dave’s formal education included degrees from Sacramento Junior College, the University of Wisconsin College of Engineering, and Northeastern University. Heading up Shepherd Construction Management Company, he supervised the creation of many buildings in the Braintree area, including the Thayer Public Library and the new Braintree Electric Light Department. XX was a team player, a civic-minded participant in Rotary and other community organizations, for which he received numerous honorary awards. He leaves his devoted wife, Sarah Kelley Shepherd, seven children from an earlier marriage: David W. Shepherd, Mark Alan Shepherd, Charles Robert Shepherd, Bonnie Shepherd Messina, Susan Shepherd Williams, Linda Shepherd Webb, Heather Shepherd Gregory, eighteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. XX’s talents included passion for functional and useful design of living space, and the ability to create furniture, toys, bookcases and more, in his woodworking shop, to improve the lives of everyone around him. He will be remembered for his steadfast loyalty to friends, family, and community, as well as his warmly optimistic and gregarious disposition.
